Partners in life and business.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n<p>In October of 1986, a young, entrepreneurial couple decided to venture into the chimney industry.\u00a0 After answering an ad in \u201cPopular Science\u201d magazine for a chimney sweep start-up kit, Kevon \u201cDoc\u201d Binder obtained information and began his journey into the chimney industry.<\/p>\n<p>Armed with nothing but ambition, work ethic and the knowledge gained from manuals, the eager young man from Hillsboro, Ohio was soon answering his first call for a service appointment and quickly grew a loyal client base.\u00a0 This was the beginning of a company, which would eventually become an industry-leader in the chimney service business. Here is his story:<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Early Years<\/strong><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2227\" style=\"width: 585px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.doctorflue.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/The-Early-Years.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2227\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2227\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2227\" src=\"http:\/\/www.doctorflue.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/The-Early-Years.jpg\" alt=\"doctor flue dressed in traditional chimney sweep attire, leaning on the driver's side door of his first truck, a 1953 dodge panel\" width=\"575\" height=\"375\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.doctorflue.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/The-Early-Years.jpg 575w, https:\/\/www.doctorflue.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/The-Early-Years-300x196.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 575px) 100vw, 575px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-2227\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><span style=\"color: #999999;\">Doc started Doctor Flue, inc. with just one old 1953 Dodge Panel truck and a dream: to provide customers with the best chimney care possible.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In order to distinguish and brand himself from other companies in the chimney industry, he wore a traditional top hat and tails to each appointment while driving a 1953 Dodge Panel truck.\u00a0\u00a0 The truck was affectionately called \u201dFluesy\u201d.\u00a0 She had the original flat-head V-8 engine, but no heat or windshield wipers; snow often came in through the doorjambs, as there were no door seals.<\/p>\n<p>Doc stated, \u201cI learned early that both the eye-catching uniform and vehicle was a good way to be noticed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Growing Up<\/strong><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2224\" style=\"width: 585px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.doctorflue.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Growing-Up.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2224\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2224\" class=\"wp-image-2224 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.doctorflue.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Growing-Up.jpg\" alt=\"doc from doctor flue leaning on the driver's side door of his second truck, called fluesy\" width=\"575\" height=\"375\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.doctorflue.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Growing-Up.jpg 575w, https:\/\/www.doctorflue.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Growing-Up-300x196.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 575px) 100vw, 575px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-2224\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><span style=\"color: #999999;\">Within 10 years, we had upgraded from our beloved old truck to a full service van, complete with ladder racks and sleek new logo design. <\/span><\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>After a decade of hard work, long hours and some growing pains, Doctor Flue, inc. continued to expand their branding and continued to grow.\u00a0 It was at this time, Doc and Valerie knew they needed to trade in \u201cFluesy\u201d, who was tried and true during their wonder years.\u00a0 They upgraded to a service van; it was a brand new, 1-ton power stroke diesel that offered miles and miles of longevity.<\/p>\n<p>While advancement in technology, knowledge and equipment helped to make their job easier, the entrepreneurs were still dedicated to putting in as many hours necessary to answer their clienteles\u2019 needs;
