My Chimney smells like soot, especially on humid days.

Almost every chimney has a odor. Most smells are pulled up the chimney by draft. However some chimney’s have “downdrafts”. This is caused by wind, or pressure problems inside the house. The chimney will most likely never stop smelling, but there are ways to get the smell heading in the right direction.

How Do I Know if My Chimney Needs Servicing?

Some chimney problems, such as leaking or spalling, are easily observable. But, in many cases, a chimney may need sweeping or repair, and you may not even know it. To ensure that your chimney is clean and safe to use, Doctor Flue recommends that you schedule a yearly chimney inspection. Our team of CSIA certified technicians will inspect your chimney from the inside-out to determine if your chimney is in safe, working condition. If a problem is detected, we will walk you through all of your chimney service options.
