Meet Our Certified Sweeps & Staff

Doc founded Doctor Flue in 1986 with help from his wife, Valerie. He grew the business from a one-man, one-truck operation, later working alongside his son, Kevon, to expand the company. After retiring in January 2026, Doc has more time to spend with Valerie and their Yorkies, and to enjoy flying his powered parachute. Read how Doctor Flue began.

Kevon joined Doctor Flue in 1997 and became the nation’s youngest CSIA-certified chimney sweep at 15. He has recertified every three years since.

As owner, Kevon oversees field operations and continues to work out of a service truck, servicing wood- and gas-burning appliances. He also serves as the company’s database administrator and developer, putting his interest in technology to work behind the scenes.

He enjoys getting to know customers and working with two of his favorite things: technology and fire. Away from work, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Anne, and their two daughters.

David joined the Doctor Flue Team in 2019 and quickly earned his CSIA certification! He brings a wealth of building trades knowledge to the team. David enjoys the variety of work that each day brings at Doctor Flue and isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty. When he’s not helping customers on the job, you can find David in his garage working on cars or tackling his latest wood-working project.

Matt joined the Doctor Flue team in 2021. He came to the team with 20 years of fire/EMS and 13 years of emergency room experience. He is excited to pursue a new career and acquire a new skill set that will help serve the community in a new way. Matt enjoys the variety of jobs that change daily with Doctor Flue. Outside of work, Matt likes playing games, camping, and hanging out with his wife, Tara, and 3 sons.

Josh has grown his skills and experience with Doctor Flue since starting with us in 2020. After gaining his Remote Pilot Certification, he became a CSIA Certified Sweep, and most recently earned his NFI Certification as a gas specialist. Josh loves the opportunity to work with Doctor Flue because of the family atmosphere, new challenges every day, and the opportunity to meet our customers’ pets. Josh’s carpentry skills are a great asset during installations and his background in welding is a big help in repairing equipment. When he’s not building, welding, working on his car, 3D printing, or playing video games in his free time, you’ll find him honing his skills in the chimney sweep business.

Levi has been a great addition to our team, and most recently became a CSIA Certified Sweep. He enjoys being a technician because it brings new challenges daily with unique situations for every fireplace. When not at work, you may spot him playing disc golf.

We are excited to have Deb back on the team. She brings a wealth of knowledge from many years with Doctor Flue and is well-versed in tackling any challenge, as demonstrated by her experience working with the City of Toledo Police Department 911 Communication Center.

Deidre is the newest member of the Doctor Flue team. She graduated from Onsted High School, earned her Bachelor’s degree in English from Siena Heights, and is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Higher Education/Student Affairs at Eastern Michigan University. She has extensive background in customer service and we are excited to watch her growth within our company.
